... what if angels sin too?...

---

Ahh, I am trying so hard to improve in drawing people!! D: I wanna draw more humans in future (surely combined with fantasy-stuff), so I really need to learn about anatomy and such! :D But I like how this turned out! ^^ I hope you like it too! :)

-- favs and comments are as always highly appreciated!! --

...Say, do you believe in angels/ghosts?

The stars aren't an accurate rating system first off. It's a good piece, but allow me to give you some constructive criticism on how you can take it a bit further.

I would start with the lighting. When doing a piece like this it's important to keep your light source to a minimum of two points for maximum dynamic effect. I noticed you used a white lighting source coming from the right, but she's also glowing white from behind. It's best to keep in mind that you want her to look soft, supple, touchable yet bust out from that background like a bat out of hell.

White light is distracting, viewers eyes tend to wander to her face and shoulder, but there are some other great details here that need just as much, if not more, attention. If you plan on redoing this at some future time, I would strongly suggest the use of cold lighting, such as blue or even green to contrast the halo and her eyes. (I see you put some green in the background, but I'm talking about a light source that leaves a colour on her skin, hair, and wings, not just a background colour.) The lighting of the Halo would create a nice red clash to counter your cold lighting source. The eyes and halo are two features that should stand out the most, but I saw your title "Angel" and so here's something extra you can do to create that "Devilish Angel" appearance.

It seems like she's a bit cramped into that space on the canvas, as if, as you were painting, you didn't take the time to extend the canvas to allow some breathing room. Perhaps, again if you're going to take a second stab at this, zoom out. Make it a back shot that goes all of the way down to the small of her back, with a wide angle to capture her wings.

The reason I suggest this is because her wings are waaay too high up on her shoulders like you panted them last and noticed you had no room to fit them. (I'm just assuming, nothing wrong, I've done it myself Lol) If you think of this from an anatomy standpoint, her wings aren't attached to any major muscles where they are. I used to ask my mother what shoulder blades were for, when I was little they seemed useless other than to act as an anchor point for back muscles. She used to tell me that's where peoples' wings come from when they die.

As silly as that seems, my mother is a devout Catholic and being not so devout, took serious thought to this. It IS the perfect point for wings, major muscles for the wings can anchor there and it wouldn't be deforming to fix a socket for the wing onto the shoulder blade. Just little things to think about, it's more than just painting; it's designing.

A larger canvas would allow for you to give her more movement and freedom, the back-shot that goes to the waist would draw viewers in, interest them to see more. The hot colours vs. Cold lighting would show the clash of demon and angel but her beauty would blur that line.

These are all little tweaks, simple things that take images from "Ah." to "AMAZING" and I hope I was some sort of help. Tired of seeing the critique widget used just to tell someone they suck or that they're great. It should be used to help someone get better! And I can see a lot of potential for skillful expansion in your future!

TTFN~
