I decided to upload the lineart seperatly as well, for those of you, who want to practice and color it yourself. And also because I pretty much liked the lineart. ^^ You can download the PSD file, please don't claim this artwork as your own and please credit me, if you upload a self-colored version! And please send me a link to your artwork!
Aaaand I would be very happy, if you added this to your favs, if you decide to download it! Thank you! Comments, critiques and favs are highly appreciated!!
Here is the original artwork: And here is the tutorial how I created the whole image:
First off, I have to praise you on the clean beautifully clean line work that you've pulled off - not a lot of people can do that. I also really like the arrangement you've chosen; the composition of the piece catches the eye and leads it around the page. I especially love what you've done to create the folds in the fabric that Chihiro wears and the flow of Haku's hair.
A couple of things that bother me: 1) The inner corners of Chihiro's eyes don't match up quite right and, 2) her arm seems a little wonky to me (probably because it isn't shaded and so doesn't really have depth here). The only reason I would count off a point on impact is because it isn't really the finished product. I went to go look at the fully colored work and it really is stunning; it adds a lot more depth to the piece.
Overall, I think you've done justice to what I believe is Miyazaki's best films; not an easy task, considering how beautiful the artwork in the movie is. I really love how you imagined an older Chihiro. And Haku just looks brilliant!
