I will be leaving dA for two years..Hey my awesome watchers and friends!
Well, yes, like the title says, I will be leaving dA for two years as of the 18th of April, so in about a week. This is a tough decision, as dA has become an important part of my life, because I am actually trying to build up a living with my art. But you should know, that I am a Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.. ) and I am 18, close to 19, so I am going on a mission. That means I will be going to the Alpine region (Switzerland, Austria, South-Germany) and talk to the people about what I believe in. You have to know, that this is something I carefully considered and I have a strong belief in God and so I want to share the joy my religion has brought me. The mission will be for two years and I wont have the time to upload any art to dA. My sister PixieCold will keep you up to date through journals on my page here, so you know what I am doing and how my life is going!
Please, if you disagree with
I am sorry...I am sorry for the reupload of , but it seems like someone reported my picture without any reason... I will contact dA about it, because this happened quite a few times to me and my sis.. its just a really unfair thing!! Please dont do that again, whoever it was! The dA staff can actually figure out who it was! It makes me really sad, cause I put a lot of effort in my work!
And to everyone else: I am sorry for the inconvenience.. ^^' I would be so happy if you would fav this again, if you like! ^^ Thank you for your support!
Ahhh and in other news: The winners of my little muro drawing contest (previous journal) will be announced tomorrow! Stay tuned for it and enter fast for your chance of being featured and winning points!
Thank you and Merry ChristmasHey!
I just wanted to say thank you for the awesome almost 3 1/2 years here on dA. Deviantart has truely become a part of my life, which I don't want to miss. You guys actually showed me, that I can achieve something with my passion, which has always been art, since I can remember. I appreciate everyone of you, my watchers, so much and I cannot believe there are actually almost 30,000 of you now. It is just incredible and unbelievable! And I reached the 400,000 pageviews today, which is also a huge milestone for me. Thank you for everything! You make my dreams become true!
And also a merry Christmas to everyone of you! I hope you have a great time with your beloved ones and enjoy the atmosphere of these wonderful days! May your wishes come true!
Very important issue!!Hey my watchers!
My sister just wrote a journal about an important issue here on dA. I have had a lot of trouble with it lately and many other users had as well. Please read about it here and support the whole thing! Thank you!

Sketch stealersThere seems to be a trend developing where people are going around using other people's sketches (other artists) as bases for commissions. I saw at least 3 journals about this today O_o
I mean honestly... it's one thing to reference a pose but even then, ask first just in case it's not what a certain artist wants, you know? But it's another thing entirely to copy out the whole sketch, and as a commission no less.
There a re so many great stock resources out there for reference material, many that I use(ed) before for my works, where photos are granted to be used for reference material and practice. Heck, dA is a huge source for these and so long as you follow what rules are placed you can use as much stock as you want.
The first two journals were talking about someone who was tracing a couple well known artist's sketches for commission work (as in not even changing a thing or even just referencing a pose; they copied *or traced* the whole sketch as it was) and then deactivated their ac

GOOD ART IS LIKE GOOD FOODThis is something I've been noticing a lot lately
And I really wanted to add my input about this
People need to think of art the same way that they think of food, price and quality wise. Basically what you pay for is what you get. You can't go into a gourmet 5 star restraunt expecting a 10 dollar meal. WHY YOU ASK? paying more than 25 dollars on a meal at a restaraunt like that is rediculous? is it really though?
Each member of the staff in that kitchen has spent YEARS of learning, trial and error and practicing to perfect their recipes to make sure they are the best of quality for you to enjoy. They use the best ingredients, and they put TIME into everything they make. This meal is the cultivation of all those years of effort, practice and wisdom. If you want a cheap meal, you can go to mcdonalds where they slap some chicken and fries in a fryalator. you only have to wait 5 minutes and pay 5 bucks.
This is the same when it comes to art. It really bothers me when people naively s
Tips on Making a Successful Fan Comic!I am by no means the most popular fan comic artist on DA, and by no means have the best TLK comic. I can think of many who have amazing comics. To name a few ones I know about and enjoy:
:iconkoai: :iconsavu0211: :iconmissaudi:
:iconhydracarina: :iconaudreycosmo13: :iconnala15:
And I know a lot of you enjoy my comic as well. So here's the question I hope to tackle slightly in this journal. What makes the comics I've listed, and my own, successful? Everyone has different style. Some mimic TLK style very well, others have their own spin on it. So it's not the style, it's not how identical it is to the movie that makes people enjoy them. So here are some key points I think are important, if you want to start your own comic.
Original Art Work:
This is very important. Not to offend you base users, but when has anyone seen a comic, especially in the TLK fandom, that has used bases and been successful? I mean successful as in the number of views,

You know what's odd?Do you remember back when art thieves were actually 'sorry' for stealing?
This isn't going to be some kind of rant or anything but I watch a lot of people and I've been seeing lately (at least over the last year or two) that many people have been dealing with art thieves and it seems more or less like a lot of the art thieves either won't admit to stealing or even apologize nowadays.
I can still remember confronting a few people who used to trace and copy my work and they were sincerely apologetic about it, complied with taking down the stolen work without much of a fight, and then I even became pretty good friends with a few of them (and still am today).
It's a bit weird how things have changed in that area. Now it seems almost every(other) art thief either puts up a fight or when caught they try to 'troll' or act tough, even when obvious evidence of their thievery is presented.
Now, I'm not talking about people who reference poses or something like that, you can't copyright a pose (d
